NGC's Mission
Gallery Forests
Gallery forests and streams provide water and food to millions of people and habitat for numerous species.
  The NGC donates equipment and money to local scientists, operates a field station in Bolivia, and directs conservation projects and educational programs.

The Neotropical Grassland Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded in 2001. The NGC is dedicated to:

CONSERVATION
  • Promoting the conservation of savannas, gallery forests, wetlands, and associated ecosystems in Central and South America;

COLLABORATION
  • Fostering mutually beneficial collaboration between North American and Central and South American scientists and institutions by providing shared scientific and educational opportunities.

GOALS
  • To design and manage research programs focusing on habitat restoration and endangered, threatened, or economically important species, especially those upon which local peoples depend;

  • To maintain and expand a student grant program to cover the costs of consumable supplies and travel for graduate students working to conserve Neotropical grasslands;

  • To maintain and expand field stations in the Neotropical grasslands (e.g., the "llanos" of Venezuela) to further all other conservation, scientific research, and education objectives;

  • To establish a research equipment program including basic science equipment such as microscopes, binoculars, and literature to donate to Latin American researchers, especially biology students.
